Monthly Mile Club

Some of you may have noticed that I had taken a little break from writing lately. This is mostly because I needed some down time but also because I have decided to start a club to help people be more active. After writing my post “Adventures of a mom with a fitness tracker” I started to really think back to my experience with the corporate wellness challenge I participated in. Since I became a mom this was what had motivated me the most to stay active and work hard to reaching fitness goal. Having so many people I worked with being supportive and being able to set my own goal really helped. I also thought it was really easy to keep track of since you could sync it up to your fitness tracker.
While I was thinking about this all the sudden it hit me. I could probably find a way to do this on a smaller scale involving my blog.
That’s when I started to google search all kinds of things about starting a fitness challenge and after several hours searching I found this website Challenge Runner which allows people to start a community challenge and set their own goals. It also allows you to use many different tracking devices to upload your walking data so anyone can join.
I’ve decided to call the challenge #MonthlyMileClub by clicking on the link you can register for the challenge that will start on July 1st. You should be able to register, set your own goal, and sync the challenge to a fitness tracker. You can also manually enter your miles in as well.
This challenge will run for the Month of July as a test run. I am inviting anyone and everyone to join and if it works out will hopefully make it a monthly challenge. My hope is that if I get enough people to sign up and participate that we might eventually be able to have some giveaways for those who reach the most miles. I am learning how to make badges and will be creating ones for those who make it on to the top of the leader board.
I hope that people will join and just try to have some fun with it. This is not meant to be a super serious fitness challenge but just an attempt to improve ones wellness and help motivate people to be more active and aware of their daily activity level.
Below is the badge I created for the challenge and I encourage those who participate to use this badge if you blog about your experience. It’s my first attempt at a badge so feel free to offer any advice on how to make it better.
Hope to see you all participate! Much love to you all.

Oh gosh, I almost read that as “Monthly Mile High Club”! I must be tired! It’s a very good idea, I like it! I’m not sure I am up to the challenge mind you, but I will consider it for sure!

I was a little worried that it might get read as that. Thanks for considering it. And Thanks for reading and commenting!

I’ll definitely think about this! I walk everywhere already and attend 3 fitness classes per week so am really considering purchasing a fitness tracker! What a fantastic idea- good luck! #triballove
Thanks for reading! I hope it works out. I haven’t used the website that’s hosting the challenge before so we will see how it goes.
Oh well done you – what a fantastic project! The world seriously needs more people like you! I look forward to hearing more about it xx
Thank you dear! I have a feeling I might need to use a different site to host the challenge but hopefully it will work out.
Such a great idea. I really need to start getting more active myself. We’ve started a little lunchtime walk at work which is lovely! #triballove x
Yes it is always good to get more active. I know they say that just walking for a little bit a day is really good for you. Thanks for commenting!
What a great idea! This is something that I need to get involved in 🙂
You will have to try it out! Thanks for commenting 🙂
I’m going to give this some serious thought…over the weekend, being at the blogger conference – walking around London and standing all day – I’ve returned and my OH says I’ve lost a bit of weight! So I think exercise is the answer 🙂 I love this idea x #triballove
Thanks for thinking about it! I’m just hoping it works out.
Ah what a great idea! Do I need a fitbit for this? I can’t really count my steps (unless I do it the old fashioned way) haha! I would love to participate in a challenge though, I need to start losing the baby weight. : ) #triballove
I’ll admit I’m not sure if the activity tracker part of the challenge is even working right now. I’m trying to figure it out. You can always just download a free app and keep in your pocket or purse instead of buying an activity tracker. People can also just input their activity if you keep track of a walk or run.
What a great idea! I would love to join but am going to be having a baby any day now, so maybe end of Aug/ early Sept I will check back in. #KCACOLS
Oh my good luck with your pregnancy! I hope that everything goes well and that I can keep the challenge going for when you might be able to join.
What a great idea. I have a FitBit and do 12,000 steps a day which is around 5 miles. They really are the best thing for getting you to be more active. #KCACOLS
Wow that is quite an accomplishment for everday. I hope you would consider joining the club! Thanks for reading and commenting!
Oh wow I really love this idea and would love to join in. I know this would really help me achieve some of my fitness goals! #kcacols
We would absolutely love to have you join our club. Thanks for commenting!
Sounds like a fab idea. I’m a lazy thing unless I have some kind of challenge or competition motivating me. Best of luck with it!

This is a great idea, and I applaud your motivation for learning how to set up and run the club. I’m afraid I have heart failure so I don’t manage to walk very far at all! Although, I’m tempted to join just to see how far I can manage… Good luck to all of you who do join. #KCACOLS
In my eyes every goal counts no matter how big or small. It’s really just about being as fit as you possibly can. Thanks for commenting! We would love to have you.
My friend did the couch to 5k and runs daily now. I barely run for the bus am considering the same thing or this challenge once my ankle fracture has fully healed. #kcacols
We would love to have you join once you are feeling better! I usually hope to work towards 3 miles a day but it is definitely not always possible. Thanks for reading and commenting.
What a good idea! I have just got a Fitbit but am still getting to grips with it #KCACOLS
It is pretty easy to set up the Fitbit to the challenge and register. Hope you will consider it. Thanks for reading and commenting!
Good luck with this exciting venture. I hope that all your hard work researching and developing the idea pays off and you can inspire and motivate people. Alison x #KCACOLS
Thank you! We are very small right now but I am hoping that it will grow as time goes on. Thanks for reading and commenting.
This sounds really good, I always find that I am more motivated when I am in a group/club with other’s all working together #KCACOLS
Yes working together as a group to reach a goal is always helpful for me as well to stay motivated. I hope you will consider joining the club. Thanks for commenting.
This is a great idea. It is always better to be supported by a group pf people that will be doing the same challenges than you. It is veery nice of you to have researched about the best way to create a little community and get people more fit and healthy. I wish you all the best with this new adventure. Thanks for sharing this at #KCACOLS, x
Thank you Franca! And thanks for hosting KCACOLS so I can get the word out.

Why did I miss this at the start of the month! Thanks for linking it up to #abrandnewday I would have missed out! I have joined up and back dated my data off my phone for the start of the month. I must admit I haven’t quite worked out how to see anyone elses data yet. There is nothing like a bit of team work and motivation to get you going! K #abrandnewday #triballove
Thank you so much for joining the club. I am so thankful to have another member of the group.
What a great challenge! Thanks for linking up with lets get real
Thank you and thank you for hosting Lets Get Real!
good luck, sounds awesome.
Thank you!
I absolutely love this idea! I really enjoy walking and running, and it is such a fab way to bring blogger’s together virtually. It’s also something I’ve not seen in the blogosphere yet, so you have found a niche. Wishing you all the success with it, and hope you get to enjoy some beautiful time outdoors. Thanks so much for linking a second post up with us at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x
