Confessions of A Coffee Addict 2

Confessions of A Coffee Addict 2

Welcome to the second meeting of Coffee Addict’s Anonymous (CAA)!

As I mentioned at the last meeting it seems like my coffee habit has only gotten worse as I get more and more tired and find more and more times of the day when I need some coffee.  This week I have to confess for all to hear my troubles with drinking coffee during my commute in the morning.

Those of you know a little bit about me know that I am a full time working mom.  What you might not know is that usually 3-4 days a week I spend close to two hours in the car dropping off my toddler and going to work.  Needless to say my husband and I didn’t really think the commute through when chosing a house and neighborhood.

This commute is a prime time for my coffee use.  Raise your hand if you usually have a mug in the car/bus/subway during your morning commute.   For me this has become quite the necessity.  During the crazy marathon that ensues with trying to get out the door in the morning I don’t always have the time to enjoy my first cup of the day.  So by the time I’m in the car my brain is feeling supper foggy.  I frequently fill the urge to have another sip especially when my commute includes a tantrum.  Of course I also enjoy a cup when I’m by myself on the way to work and jamming out to some music.

Let’s be real when my little one isn’t in the car with me in the morning I can be found rocking out to the catchy beat of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” or Flo Rida “My House”.  I am 100% not a morning person so by the time I get in the car I need some serious waking up.  So sipping on some delicious coffee and singing (ok maybe yelling) along to the latest Pop music is just what I need to get my brain turned back on and my energy level up.

Raise your hand if you can be found doing the same?  When do you have your first cup of the day?  Do you listen to music to get yourself going in the morning?  What’s your favorite kind of coffee?

Until next time…..My name is Sarah and I am a coffee addict.

See you at the next meeting!

  • I love coffee, but I find I’m quite sensitive to caffeine, to the point where it can give me anxiety. So I only really have one cup a day and really savour that. Other than that it’s tea, herbal tea or water for me. #KCACOLS

    • I have heard a lot of people having that problem as well. Sometimes that happens to me if I don’t eat enough breakfast while drinking a lot of coffee. Herbal tea sounds nice! Thanks for commenting.

  • Hi Sarah, I’m Mainy from myrealfairy.com and I too am a coffee addict…..that feels good!:) My first coffee is precious so its not my first cuppa of the day, thats tea and drunk while getting me ready for work and the boys ready for school…nuff said, its carnage!!
So, the coffee comes with me in the car and the first sip is taken after I’ve waved them into school and I sit back in the car…bliss!!:)

    • Thanks for sharing Mainy! It’s nice to have you. I agree I savor that first cup like it is my most guilty of pleasures. Thanks for commenting!

  • Oh that’s a long commute, I work at home but still it takes me two hours to do the school run each day because I can’t drive! I get up at six and the first thing I do is make my coffee, then I sit here and blog, linky or comment whilst enjoying that first cup! I am a coffee addict too, and that’s okay.

    • That sounds like a lovely way to enjoy your morning. My family is going to the beach soon and I am looking forward to doing that. Glad to have you comment!

  • My friend is a terrible coffee addict too. I am a tea addict. I once drank paint water and preffered it to coffee. Sorry, not sorry. #kcacols

    • That’s too funny. It definitely not for everyone. I for one have a tendency to drink coffee that tastes like dessert so I LOVE IT. I have read a lot of comments recently from people who enjoy tea instead. It’s another great option. Thanks for commenting!

  • I’m a tea addict, and I need at least 2 cups before I leave the house. I always take my thermos full of tea on the nursery drop off/work commute. #KCACOLS

    • That sounds like me with my coffee. I do like tea as well but it just doesn’t have the same amount of caffeine I believe. Thanks for commenting!

    • Oh my yes you don’t want to talk to me until I’ve had my coffee because who knows what I will say. Thanks for commenting!

  • Oh my goodness. That’s a long commute. You definitely deserve coffee!! Since having Ernie 22 months ago i switched to decaf yet still depend on it like I did the real stuff bizarrely!! #KCACOLS

    • Ah yes decaf can be a great alternative if you don’t want all of the caffeine. I switched to decaf and had a small cup or two a day when I was pregnant. Thanks for commenting!

  • I’m a coffee addict too, though keeping the habit under control with no more than 3 cups a day! My first cup is usually when I get to work in the morning, but I usually need another later on to get through the day without falling asleep. Sometimes not even coffee helps. I really enjoy my uninterrupted early morning coffee at weekends before anyone else is awake! #KCACOLS

    • Yes at work I find myself fighting to not nod off if I don’t have my coffee. I also love Saturday mornings before everyone else is up with a nice cup. Thanks for commenting!

  • I love my cup of coffee in the morning too but I need to have it when I’m in peace that has to be when I’m back home after taking the little one to nursery. It is walking distance so it take me about 30 minutes to go, drop her and come back walking. At this point the only thing I’m thinking is coming back to the house and have a nice cup of coffee! It is the best feeling ever! lol You definitely need coffee in that 2 hrs journey. Wow that is mad! I love listening to pop music too. It really brings me back to life. I have at least 3 cups of coffee every day but sometimes I even have a 4th one! I love it! Thanks so much for sharing this at #KCACOLS. Hope you join us again on Sunday, 🙂 x

    • Yes there is something so relaxing about it in the morning. The two hours is split up between leaving and coming home so it’s not as bad. Although longer depending on traffic. Thanks for having me on #KCACOLS

  • I am not addicted to coffee, I am more of tea girl. But need to drink plenty of coffee in the morning as I am exhausted and very groggy due to medication. Coffee is a life safer to making me feel more human which is essential in my opinion with two young kids knocking about 😉 #kcacols

    • I agree that drinking coffee definitely helps me be more like myself and my mind feel much more clear! Thanks for reading and commenting.
