A trip to the Arboretum

I meant to have written this quite some time ago but we have been making a lot of trips this summer to visit family and it got a little lost in the shuffle. About a month ago my little family made a trip to a beautiful arboretum at Penn State University that was filled with exotic and local flowers and spectacular sights.
When we first walked up the visitors building was completely surrounded by these beautiful flower beds and pots. I thought to myself this is going to be such a relaxing trip with amazing sights. As we walked through the entrance there was a field for children to play where I imagine they hold events on occasion. These surrounding the field were picturesque views of rose bush walls like you imagine seeing in castle or palace. After staring in awe for a few minutes we decided to checkout the kids section which offered so many interesting exhibits and activities.
I don’t want to bore you with too many details of our adventure but want to share some of the cool exhibits that were offered. There was this whole section of vegetable garden where kids could water everything with buckets that were provided. If you happened to catch my last #MySundayPhoto post then you might have seen the succulent kaleidoscope picture which was quite a inventive feat. There was also a section that included grapes growing on the vine, a small cave with a sandbox, some musical instruments, and supper cool frog lilly pond. Even though it has been weeks since we went I still think of the beautiful flowers and go back to look at the pictures on my phone. If you ever get the chance to visit Penn State I would definitely recommend taking an hour or so check it out; especially since it’s so family friendly 🙂
Have you ever been to an Arboretum? What is your favorite family friendly outing?

Thanks for hosting Claire! I also love places like this to take the kids especially when they are free and can see nature.
I didn’t even know what was so no. We have something similar near us though and it was lovely. To be honest my tot was only interested in the Koi in the pond but perhaps he’s a little young 🙂

We love the Morris Arboretum, connected to and managed by Penn University. It’s like our own wonderful backyard, filled with fun and intrigue every time we go and explore. Every season is beautiful and every visit unearths some new amazing thing we didin’t see, find, or explore prior. Our membership there is worth every penny. It’s a beautiful safe haven in our neck of the woods. I’ve written about and shared many pictures from our outdoor wonderland! The kids love it as much as we do. #fartglitter #stayclassymama
I’ve never been to one but it looks beautiful! I’ll have to look into what we have locally.
Thanks so much for linking up with #FridayFrivolity! 🙂
